Color Fusers Blog Hop — February 2023

Welcome to the February 2023 Color Fusers Blog Hop! This month, we have a sweet color combination of Calypso Coral, Pale Papaya, and Balmy Blue. I think Calypso Coral and Pale Papaya were made for each other, they go together so beautifully. And of course, Balmy Blue is gorgeous on any project.

For my project, I used the Sweet Citrus Bundle! I love this bundle, which includes the Sweet Citrus Photopolymer Stamps and Sweet Citrus Hybrid Embossing Folder (including both the dies and a 3D embossing folder.) One of the dies fits inside the embossing folder so you can both cut and emboss at the same time. Or, you can use the dies and embossing folder separately like normal.

I stamped the fruit on Shimmery White Cardstock using a Sponge Dauber to add both Calypso Coral and Pale Papaya ink directly to the rubber prior to stamping. Then, I lightly spritzed the paper to make the ink bleed and embossed and cut the fruit.

For the leaves, I inked up the stamp with Balmy Blue, stamped off once or twice on scratch paper to lighten the color, and then only inked up part of the stamp with full strength Balmy Blue ink. Afterwards, I lightly spritzed the stamp before stamping on Shimmery White. This produces a soft watercolored image with nice color variations.

Next, I embossed the flowers in white on Shimmery White Cardstock and then watercolored them with Pale Papaya ink. After the watercoloring dried, I stamped the centers with Pale Papaya ink.

In the background, I used the Layering Diorama Dies to cut two sheets of Fancy Flora DSP and I also dry embossed a layer of Vellum Cardstock with the Sweet Citrus 3D Embossing Folder.

Lastly, for the label, I wanted something a little different, so I used a label from the Meadow Dies. It was a little short to fit the entire sentiment, so I used a partial die-cutting technique to lengthen the label (Position the die on one side of the sentiment and only run 2/3 of the label through the die-cutting machine. Then, reposition the die on the other side of the sentiment, being sure to jiggle the die to align the stitching. Then secure with old washi tape and run the other side through the die-cutting machine.)

The final touch was some Iridescent Pastel Gems and a bow tied with White Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon.
